Body Movin’

The following was written during a writers circle after the prompt of “Body Movement”

This was her favourite song, and they never played it on the radio.

She sat at the stoplight and tapped on the steering wheel, humming along.

"Body movin',  body movin'
A1 sound never sounded so soothin'"

“God, this was a long light.” She thought and continued to hum along, getting more into it.

She turned up the volume on the radio and began to move her body.  Back in 1997, she had owned this song on cassette - Hello Nasty by the Beastie Boys.  She knew all the words because the lyrics you memorize as a kid are there for good.

Monica started to rap along.  She closed her eyes, and she was 14 again... hanging out with her BFF in the back of her parent's station wagon.

"Body Movin, eh body movin"

BEEP BEEP

She opens her eyes and the light is green.  The cars in front of her were all on their way.

BEEP BEEP

She grabs the stick and shifts it into First, released the clutch then hits the gas... and stalls.

"Body Movin, we be body movin"
